Team Mama Idea: DIY Wooden Photo Collage Letters!

Image
Senior Day for No.1 is next week!!! I can't believe it, mamas. Seems like he was just a Freshman yesterday. And a 55lb anklebiter two weeks ago. *sniff sniff* Us Senior Mamas are getting together on Thursday for a craft night. We're making fatheads , posters, and these super cute wooden, photo collage letters! I got the idea from Christina P., one of the awesome mamas in the  Confessions of a Sports Mama Facebook Group . By the way, have you joined us yet?? It's a private group for Sports Moms to connect and ask questions, share ideas, victories and defeats. We're over 2,500 strong...and growing! Here is the photo she shared that I used as inspiration. Her daughter made one for each of her teammates. How sweet is she?! Want to make one (or 10!) yourself? Then just keep on reading! What you'll need: Large wooden letter (we found ours at Michaels) Mod Podge (we went with the Matte finish) Foam Brush X-Acto knife Scissors Photos (I used a total of 12 4x4 photographs, h...

Sports Mama Tip: Keep Food Warm Without Sternos!

Image
Hey Sports Mamas, I have a quick tip for you today. Next time you're feeding the team hotdogs, burgers, or any type of warm sandwich, be sure to whip out your handy, dandy cooler! Yep, you heard me right. No warming trays or Sternos needed! This past week we fed our boys chicken patty sandwiches as part of their pre-game meal. One of my football mama BFFs and I made them at home and then loaded them up and took them to the school. Nobody wants a cold or soggy sandwich. Am I right?! Here's what we did to be sure they were still warm when it was time to serve. We baked the patties according to the package (164 of them total!) and placed them on buns. We then wrapped each sandwich individually in aluminum foil. Once all of the patties were wrapped, we placed them back in the oven on it's lowest temperature setting. Before we headed to the school, we placed them in coolers. When it was time to serve, the sandwiches were still piping hot. The other volunteers commented on how wa...

Sports Mama Tip: The Gifts Coaches Really Want!

Image
We've all been there before. The season is beginning to wind down and it's time to start thinking of coaches gifts. If you're like me and are struggling to come up with (new) ideas, you won't want to miss this post! I recently reached out to a bunch of coaches, and asked them what their favorite gift they ever received was. You might be surprised at the answers... spoiler alert, gift cards didn't make the cut. In fact one coach said, "wife takes cash/gift cards anyway!". Ha! So what do they really want? Here were the top three responses (in no particular order): A team photo signed by their players. A ball signed by their players. Handwritten thank you cards from their players and players' parents. As you can see they all had a common theme, hand written memorabilia from their young athletes. So the moral of this blog post, Sports Mamas? Sometimes (what we may think of as) less is more...especially when it comes to coaches gifts! For daily Sports Mam...

Team Mama Idea: Soccer Post-Game Snacks (NEW!)

Image
Soccer season is here! It's opening day for No. 3's soccer league and we seriously could not have asked for more perfect weather. It's suppose to be 76 degrees today! Hello Spring!!! I volunteered to bring post-game snacks (shocker, I know!). I always try and get my turn out of the way early. Here's what I came up with: I bought Gatorade Zeros (aka sugar free!), Teddy Grahams, and fruit snacks. I had planned to get Cuties, but the ones at my local Target were looking a tad sad. Fruit snacks have to have a little fruit in them, don't they?! I also made these fun labels. They say "WAY TO GOAL!!!" with a soccer ball underneath. (Click HERE for the free, printable template.) I put everything in clear bags. Bagging snacks makes distribution SO much easier! I then stuck the labels on. That's it! Super simple, yet still special. Cheers to the weekend, Sports Mamas! GO PHOENIX!!! *** Want more soccer snack ideas? I've got you, mama! Click HERE...

Sports Mama Tip: How to Take The Perfect Team Photo!

Image
Maybe your kid was sick on Picture Day. Maybe he or she closed their eyes. Maybe your Coach thought Picture Day was on Saturday instead of on Sunday. Or maybe your league doesn't even do team pictures to begin with. Things happen. And because they do, I am here writing this blog post! Here are my tried and tested tips to help you take the perfect team photo: Plan ahead. Pick a date and time, and notify your team. I usually schedule ours for practice days, but pre-game can work as well. Just avoid scheduling it post-game... think sweaty faces, dirty uniforms, and possible frowns if they didn't win. It's also a good idea to have a couple of extra jerseys on hand in case someone forgets theirs. Location, location, location. Location is everything! It will help to tell your team's story. If you're photographing a football team, take it outside on the field. For basketball teams, take it right on the court. You can even incorporate props su...
